H.R. 650, the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act

by Doug Mills

Last year, industry professionals like you sent over 12,000 emails to Members of Congress explaining why the manufactured housing industry needs relief from the Dodd Frank Act. In the end, though, while the Financial Services Committee passed the bill by a unanimous vote, the bill did not make it all the way through the process prior to adjournment.

With the new Congress just starting, our supporters have moved quickly to reintroduce the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act. They know that this legislation can quickly move through the process.

However;

When a bill is re-introduced, the co-sponsorship list starts at zero. We need to get last year’s co-sponsors to add their name as a co-sponsor of this new bill. And, we need more co-sponsors, ideally, 218 of them. This will help our champions as they make the case that this bill needs to be scheduled for floor action ASAP.

The new bill number is H.R. 650. Representatives Fincher (R-TN), Sewell (D-AL), Barr (R-KY), and Sinema (D-AZ) have agreed to be the champions of the bill. They are ready to go, they just need us to help increase the number of co-sponsors quickly.

With MHI’s advocacy page, putting this request to your Member of Congress is easy. Please take a minute today to send an email to your Representative asking for their co-sponsorship. Click on this link – Email my Representative - or go to Action Alerts on MHI's home page.  As this bill was introduced just this week, please give this action your immediate attention -- and send it along to others in your organization and everyone else you know in the industry to do the same.
