More testing options are now available for building product manufacturers

NTA has been accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) since 2004.
On February 21, 2017, the IAS awarded NTA an expanded scope that now includes ASTM D7032 and AC273.

ASTM D7032 is the specification for establishing performance ratings
for wood-plastic composite and plastic lumber deck board, stair treads and guards. D7032 is referenced by the 2009, 2012 and 2015 International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IBC), which require all products to be labeled to show conformance to ASTM D7032.

NTA certification program IM 008.1 for Wood Plastic Composite Deck Board, Guardrail and Handrail fulfills all the requirements set out by the building codes. Additionally, the inclusion of AC273 in our scope will allow NTA to not only test and certify guards and handrails that are made of wood plastic composites, but also a variety of other materials, including metal.

In addition to offering a deckboard, guard and handrail certification program, the expanded scope goes along with the announcement by NADRA that NTA is working in conjunction with their CPAC committee (Consumer Product Awareness Charter) to develop a labeling program for outdoor products, including deck boards, guards and railings. The labels will contain information about the products various properties, like fade resistance and thermal retention.
