Change is in the air!

As summer reaches its peak, the NFPA 1192 code change is quickly approaching. The current Washington RV Approvals have an expiration of August 31, 2014 for all 2011 RV plan and QA manuals. With that date fast approaching, what’s an RV manufacturer to do when the new standards are not yet available?
NO NEED TO PANIC!
The NFPA is currently in the process of publishing the new version, and expects it to be available in September.  So, what happens to the plans and manuals that expire the end of August, with no new standards available until after that date? State of Washington to the rescue! The expiration date has been pushed back to December 31, 2014.  This gives RV manufacturers the time to obtain copies of the new standard and begin to implement it before their current plans expire!
If you are able to implement your new program, based on the 2014 NFPA 1192, quickly, the L&I Factory Assembled Structures program will accept 2014 code cycle RV plans beginning September 1. Another bonus: you can continue to use your current 2011 approved design plans and QA manuals until you receive your approved 2014 design plans back from the department, or until December 31.
